We recognize that completing a degree is tough for adult students who find themselves juggling work, family, and life responsibilites while they take night classes. This graduating class shows us that achieving their goal of earning a bachelor degree is possible. Our students tell us they receive the help they need from our staff all along the way. One of our graduates commented, " They will take time at SAL, no matter what time of the day or evening, to speak with you to set a program in place to know what your goals are, and how you are going to achieve them." Mary Lindop,'08, stated, " It's like an extended family and I think anyone pursuing a degree here should know that. You really have faculty and staff who really care about you."

the Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center Gallery. It features 21 photographs of rural scenes from Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Montana, Washington and even Norway! The photographs were taken during Fleck's Creative Renewal Arts Fellowship from the Arts Council of Indianapolis. She chose to focus on rural landscapes because, though she grew up in Indiana, she had never taken photos depicting the familiar scenery. "There is beautiful farmland all around us, but most people never stop to look at it," she explains. "This exhibition shows farms as art."

Admission is free to the exhibition, which is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Fleck will be present at a reception Friday, March 28 from 6-8 p.m. Find more information on UIndy's Arts site, then stop by and check it out!

The comedy was well-received by the audiences, and the six student actors, nearly all of whom played multiple roles, turned in fine performances. It has been a successful year for the department. In addition to staging four productions,
they were invited in January to perform their production of The Shape of Things from the 2006-2007 season at the prestigious Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in Milwaukee. The department's final production of the season, Hedda Gabler, is scheduled for April 11-13 and 17-19. UIndy is excited to be the new home of a vintage woodwind
collection, thanks to a generous donation by retired local businessman and
collector Norman Cohen and his wife, Maxine. The Cohens donated 55 historic
instruments that span the 20th century. The rarest pieces are permanently
displayed in the Krannert Memorial Library, while the rest will be available
for top music students to play.
The display was unveiled Monday evening, as a kick-off to UIndy's first-ever
Jazz Week. Jazz concerts take place every night this week and feature top local
and regional acts, such as the Jamey Aebersold Quartet and the Buselli Wallarab
Jazz Orchestra.
It's shaping up to be a great week, spearheaded by our director of Jazz Studies, Harry Miedema. A seasoned saxophonist, Harry has performed with
legends like the O'JAYS, the Jackson Five, Marvin Gaye, the Temptations and the
Supremes. We're proud to have a talent like Harry leading our jazz program and
excited to be a hub for jazz concerts this week. For full details on the week, check out our Arts Web site.
