The University of Indianapolis recently announced the start of a $7.5 million capital campaign that will provide the neccessary funds to permanently establish the newest center on campus, the Institute for Civic Leadership and Mayoral Archives.
Plans for the newest center were announced during the notable "Five Mayors: An Evening of Insight & Vision" event on March 11 which brought together the last four mayors of the city-- Senator Richard Lugar, William Hudnut, Stephen Goldsmith and Bart Peterson-- and current mayor Greg Ballard. Intended as a place for research and civic-training, the institute plans to host a variety of events including lectures and symposia on topics related to civic government and municipal leadership. It will also digitize and archive the official documents, speeches, conversations and artifacts from each of the five past and future mayors of Indianapolis.
