Student discount available for Expressive Arts in Long Term Care workshop

  • Improve quality of life
  • Increase resident engagement
  • Decrease residents’ isolation, depression, unwanted behaviors, and falls

Recognizing this, the Indiana State Department of Health is sponsoring Expressive Arts in Long Term Care workshops around the state. ISDH has approved a special discounted rate of $60 to encourage students to attend this unique learning opportunity.
These workshops, coordinated by the University of Indianapolis Center for Aging & Community, will include best practices and instruction on how to provide the following expressive arts:

  • Visual art
  • Dance
  • Drama
  • Music
  • Writing and Memoir

Each workshop lasts four days and will consist of three consecutive days with the fourth day for follow-up, experience sharing, and troubleshooting two weeks later.

Expressive Arts in Long Term Care will be offered in Fort Wayne, IN from May 15-17 with a follow up on May 31, 2017. Other workshops will be offered later in the year in Merrillville, Evansville, Columbus, and Indianapolis.
